Doing tourist stuff.
So this area is the most touristy area of Beijing in my opinion. It just one giant shopping center with a shit load of shops. It has a very nice layout and good atmosphere.
Outside the shopper center however, there are many small shops. Such as this one. When I was leaving the shop owner asked me “Is this not good enough for your needs?!” hahahahahha
These smoke stands are awesome. Buy any type of ciggerates you want, zig zags, cigars, etc. If you look close enough they sell these novelty super oversized lighters. I’ll probably bring one back for fun. Oh yea and don’t worry guys, for those of you who know me, I’ve still never smoked a ciggerate in my life.
Name of some place, they had hookahs everywhere.
This is what inside Sanutun Soho looks like.
Puma store!
This is the center, there was some giant advertisement there. Also during winter you can iceskate there. That seems pretty nice.
This is their apple store. There was an insane amount of people just playing with the new Iphone 4. Thought I’d like to take a picture.
So after exploring there we went to this building. I forgot what it’s called.

Anyways in this building, it’s like the tourist market place of Beijing. People are constantly trying to speak crappy english and sell you stuff for x10 the price. Dumb tourist and foreigners fall for that stuff.

But then again, if I saw this, I probably would fall for the trap as well.
Yea so you get an idea of what this place looks like. Full of tourist and foreigners.
So after leaving that place, I decided to eat some stinky tofu. It wasn’t as good as everyone makes it out to be. Seriously. Also makes your shit stink on another level.
Then we walked through the foreign clubbing district, also forgot the name. I think Cargo was one of the most expensive clubs so I took a picture of it.
Next to this place was the worlds biggest bowling alley? I’m not sure if thats true but it seemed like it. I mean just look at how many lanes there are. Holy shit. there’s 5o full lanes.
Some wussy goofy wannabe haha. Just took a picture cause everybody probably takes a picture with this sculpture at this bowling alley.
It’s rare that you see a giant TV in a picture frame, but here it is. hahaha just thought some of you would appreciate this.
We visited some huge ass pool hall.
Huge. Mad smokey.
Another club or something.
Passed by this place. I think its the best electronic market? Not really sure, I’ll have some pictures in it eventually.
Alright so next we went through this freaking awesome tourist side street that went on forever called Nan Luo Gu Xiang. It has an insane amount of beautiful bars, small shops, cafes, food booths, etc. It what every tourist imagines Beijing to be like in my opinion. I didn’t get an actual picture of just the street itself and kind’ve regret it. But it was dark and very small and somewhat crowded. The street itself has other small alley ways which would lead to more bars, shops, etc. The whole street is really long. I think Andre and I spent atleast 2 hours in that area.
This place sold a bunch of hand made stuff. You know those chinese movies where they have like paper characters and they move them around and stuff? Well this is one of them. You can see the instructions on it.
Another store had some random pins. lol @ the random CS ones
kewl store door.
I don’t even know why I took a picture of this
This is what the small random bars looked like. This picture doesn’t do them justice. They had a really good atmosphere
OLDSCHOOL CHINESE YOGURT
ahahahah so now its time for some more fun pictures to look at.
Can you guys guess what these are? Well if you guessed meat, your partially correct
Eating scorpions is bomb. It was actually really tasty, I aint lying to you.
In this street they had a lot of fun flashing lights and projectors. This projector was filming some little chinese kid movie.
They happen to have tons of head shops around in Beijing.
Fun plushie shop.
Surprisingly I didn’t take as many pictures as I thought I did, but I’ll definitely go back one day during the day when everything is open and take tons of pictures for those of you who haven’t been to Beijing!
For the hipsters out there, yea they got fixed gears here. It’s usually the korean messenger boys riding them. They got some pretty goddamn fresh bikes, I saw two other guys with them as well but I didn’t wanna be weird and take a picture of them. In Toronto, I don’t think anyone would be stupid enough to lock their fixie with a chain lock ahhaha.
one LOVE

a lil high lulz. lol. Yo whats the point of a headshop if weed is SO outlaw’d? You gona buy yourself a hookah? good replacement for not smoking cigs. Strong will to not smoke, keep with it. If I was there i’d kill packs so fast. The scorp looks BOMB, I’d love to try it, same with stinky tofu.
You mad me lulz hard in class when ur shit stank in another level lol.
I’m usually reading your blog in class, some of the dudes behind me were like YO WTF IS THAT PMALL?! LOOK AT ALL THAT FAKE SHIT! lol
I wanna see some b-boy stuff yo! Video your shit and upload it to youtube or something.

thanks for reading stuff man, i’m gonna start replying to all the comments because of my lack of blogging
I really like the photo of the yogurt bottles. We used to eat a bottle a day when we were in school, and they still have it. I think now it costs ~3rmb or $0.50CAD/bottle, excluding the deposit. I love the taste. There are some things that are only available in Beijing.
Hmmm, I’d like to try the scorpions. They look tasty. The big brown things to the left of the scorpions like exoskeletal bugs, in two sizes.
Its not a Chinese boy, its from a Japanese cartoon called crayon shinchan, it was like the simpsons or so I hear. Speaking of Japanese you should shop at uniqlo for clothes since it looks like they have it there.
oh :O kewl haha
uniqlo is like a korean verison of h & m, aint that crazy but ill probably end up buying clothes there. all forgieners do.
lawl multicoloured fixed gear and testicle meat on a stick for sale on the street
aint testicle meat, those are bugs
how much meat was in the scorpion, or was it just crunchy bits?
mom-thingy, cigarettes and just reminder how lucky we are to have “no smoking laws”
and sticky tofu is an acquired taste just blue cheese is.
how are classes going?
scorpion was more or less super deep fried, it was just crunchy
classes are good, i’m ahead in the communication part because of speaking to locals so often
SO AWESOME
UNIQLO!!
yeah.
Keep up the blog posts, Noah Iiiiiiiing! The lifestyle you are experiencing in China is making me jealous. I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself there. The contrasts between North America and Asia are – words can’t really describe it. Anywhere in Asia is like a mind-opener!
Haha, can’t wait to read/see more of what you’re doing there.
PS: I LOVE THAT HIPSTER BIKE. (Well more the colors than the bike itself lol)
