I'm a realist and it drives me nut sometimes. I'm constant worrying, and I 've had to learn how to manage my thoughts. Listening to music all the time really helps because I go with the music rather than thinking of what-if scenarios. Living in the moment doesn't come naturally to me.

In a place like China or Japan, furniture like that is becoming more necessary because of the space constraints. In Canada, getting a nice big house in the suburbs will pretty much eliminate the need for such furniture. Or if you are going to be like me and move into a crappy 2 bedroom aparment, or possibly into one of the 100 condos currently being constructed in Toronto, you might need this.

Furniture like this is also really expensive! If you go to Leons, you can get a matching leather loveseat, couch, and chair with coffee table for about $1000. It's tasteful too!

Although nothing compared to killing your achillies tendon, I dislocated my left shoulder when I was in Beijing while taking a kickboxing class. It was out of its socket for about 3 hours before I got it popped back in. It was really painful, and hasn't been the same since. I've had it dislocate while doing things like, snowboarding (landing bad), being thrown (hiphop coreo), and even just doing a really hard point (think locking). I had my left arm in a sling for 2 months, in which I didn't get to do anything physical, and I ended up gaining about 10 pounds. I was doing martial arts and playing badminton for a total of about 5 times a week, so it really changed my life.

While you were in China, I've also been diagnosed with Achalasia, which makes it really hard for me to eat. It's made it really difficult for me to do something that I need to do to survive, and is also quite embarrassing in social situations. When I eat or drink, the food won't go down and sometimes I'll regurgitate (not vomit... theres a difference). This condition has really made me face my own mortality, and constantly think about my help. There is no western cure, there are surgeries that make it easier to eat, yet come with a bunch of side effects. I've turned to Chinese medicine, which reduces the symptoms, but takes a long time to kick in and gets expensive quickly.

Keep your head up! Everybody has their sicknesses; nobody is invincible. Life goes on whether you like it or not.
